The 10nm process is slow to invest in mass production, and the evolution of Intel's product lines has been greatly hindered, and the new platform can only be postponed, temporarily added to various transitional products, and the same is the case with the desktop. According to an accident leaked by the Central South University, a PPT, Intel will launch the next generation server platform Cascade Lake-SP by the end of this year, but it is still the 14nm process, up to 28 cores, the architecture is basically the same, only a refresh upgrade, and it has only this flat in 2019.
You know, AMD will come up with a new generation of EPYC Xiaolong server next year with 7Nm new technology and new Zen2 architecture.
Although the volume of AMD can not cause fatal damage to Intel in a short time, as the competitiveness of AMD products and market is strengthened, the hegemony of Intel in the server and data center market will be seriously threatened.
Intel's former CEO Ke Qi also admitted that AMD could be robbed of up to 20% of the server market share.
The new platform for Intel 10nm will have to wait until 2020, but there is a new Cooper Lake-SP besides the Ice Lake-SP which has been mentioned publicly before.
This forward news said that Cooper Lake-SP is still based on the 14nm process, but from this roadmap, the two are obviously the product of the same big platform, so it may be just a backup to prevent the 10nm process from happening again, and Ice Lake-SP can't be successfully launched.
In time, Cooper Lake-SP is early, will debut at the end of 2019, and Ice Lake-SP is in the second quarter of 2020.
The two support Barlow Pass DIMM technology, which is not clear, but it is likely to be the new generation of Optane DC Persistent Memory DIMM, and Cascade Lake-SP will be supported for the first time.
In addition, both of them support eight channel memory and will make significant changes in the OmniPath bus.
As you can see from the roadmap, there seems to be no new planning for the Xeon Phi product line, and the age of the Ming is Cascade Lake-AP, according to the rumor that it is the glue package of Cascade Lake-SP, the two cores are integrated together to provide up to 56 cores.
Considering that Xeon Phi products are starting to decommissioning and there is no new generation, does this mean that the Xeon Phi coprocessor accelerated project is over?
